Sorry I'm a zombie at the moment, I didn't even finish your post. So you even go on to say yourself you weren't happy with the selection! But you start with a moan about people who wanted a little more?!

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
CM, do you think that is the best our club could have done today? Genuinely the best lineup, formation, and performance we could put together?

nychammer 10:26 Fri Dec 26
Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
Yeah so what were all moans about is that we should have played our "best" 11 today, still lost, then play either the same (more tired) "best" or weaker variant of it against Arsenal and lose to them as well? Not saying everything was right today but still, we have a lot of games in a short period. Hope he does go for it against Arsenal as that IS the game I see us winning.

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
guess people would have rather we attacked them, play 3 at the back or something. losing 6-0 with a few shots on target.
It was a free game today really. I didn't expect any points.
Didn't see the point in playing two snail pace midfielders in the middle of the park, might as well have given Poyet a game.
Stupid starting Downing out wide, would have better off being rested than stuck out there.
Interesting to see the team selection on Sunday, and the energy levels in our team.
Why wasn't O'Brien brought on for a run out? He will be well rusty on Sunday.

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
no, not a surprise that we lost to Chelsea as most expected. It is surprising that Sam seemed to believe we did not have a chance given we are 4th place. At what point should the manager believe his team have what it takes to play against the best side in the league?

People can bang on about 4th place being a fluke but we've played good football this year. As for crowded fixtures, everyone else has to deal with it. I understand managing minutes too, but this was basically a white flag from the lineup card.

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
Hardly a surprise losing to a fantastic Chelsea team who were magnificent in the first half.

Not helped by our midfield having a couple of players who aren't good enough, but I won't be throwing the toys out like a lot seem to be.

We were always going to try to defend deep while hoping to nick a goal with the manager we have and if we'd been a lot more positive the scoreline may have been even bigger.

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit the other team has played well.

Incorrect tactics and team selection, but not sure it would have mattered today.

I thought Nolan was at fault for the first goal. Costa was definitely his man and the fat fuck was caught ball-watching.

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
The facts are inescapable - when Allardyce gets to play his preferred formation and tactics, the best we can expect is grinding out a result against the likes of Leicester. However, when Nolan and Carroll are unavailable, and we play Downing down the middle and Sakho as the main striker with Valencia in support, we are a force to be reckoned with.
In short, playing good football and winning is not what Allardyce is about. So I ask you, what is the point of Allardyce when we have the squad to play good football and win (I'd play Song in a free role)?

COOL HAND LUKE 9:47 Fri Dec 26
Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
It does look like some of these issues are starting to bubble up to the surface within the squad now.

Even Noble was biting Nolan's arse at one point today about not moving to receive the ball.

Most of us have played the game... if we can see it, you can bet Nolan's 'colleagues' in the squad can see it.

I know it sounds like conspiracy theory, but I can't help feeling Sam is keeping one finger gently on the 'destruct' button in the background, to try and protect his position going forwards.

Saving grace? I really cannot see Nolan getting any sort of contract extension, so there may be light at the end of the tunnel. We'd best just hope Sam doesn't piss off too many key elements of the squad in the meantime...

JonNash 9:47 Fri Dec 26
Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
Nolan was fucking useless and he does cost us in terms of movement and how he takes up a key position on the pitch but Collins was and is diabolical, responsible for both goals. Don't leave your man unless your are going to win the header, don't give Costa time to turn. He is shit and if Reid leaves he is not good enough to play at this level and needs replacing no matter what happens

Totally agree with what's been said about Nolan's inclusionand the knock on effect.

What really pissed me off today was seeing Downing out wide, particularly after Sam boasting about his new found position

allardyce's after match interview with the bbc is some of the biggest load of contadictory spin & bullshit i've ever heard. He will fully compound it if he picks nolan on sunday.

Disappointing, wonder what the owners thought of that?

I dont think Sam will be in charge next season though.

And what ATBOG said.

So... after all that, we are back to a simple fact that the more astute amongst us have identified some time since:

Nolan needs to go now.

And so does Sambo.

Team captain, brought in under Allardyce to be captain.
That won't change till Allardyce goes I wouldn't have thought.
Unfortunately he is too slow these days for the Premier, same with Noble. Was a good signing though at the time though, probably got where we are today thanks to him.

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
Zarate and especially Amalfitano are being crucified by the unnecessary use of Nolan. As said that isn't helping the team or the squad.
Personally after the West Brom game I'd call Nolan's agent in to tell him he can have a free transfer in January as he won't start again. And I'd up the hunt behind the scenes for next seasons manager.

atbog, that is it. the players on the bench and in training are watching that fucking scouse carthorse and wondering how the fuck he's a guaranteed starter

Re: Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
"BFS has far many better options & players to choose from now, but simply refuses to once/if Nolan is fit & I use that term loosely in his case. It's not about one player, but the whole knock on effect it has with numerous others & our style to fit him in."

Absolutely, as others have agreed with. But it's not only that. The additional knock on effect, which I would guess is now in full effect, is how do certain squad members feel about being shunted around the team/overlloked for a starting place to accommodate nolan? As far as i'm concerend it an't be anything but detrimental to our confidence & results. if we win, we don't win as convincingly as we could & if we draw/lose the squad are left thinking what if he weren't playing? It's favouritism & bad management. The board need to make allardyce aware of this.
